Jan Kaláb was born in 1978 in Czechoslovakia, where he still lives and works in Prague. His creative roots are based in street art, as a founder of the prominent CSK collective, from where, with evolving styles, techniques and monikers, he travelled the world, and honed in on the three- dimensional geometric abstraction style he is known for today.
Since 2008 he has been exhibited in solo shows globally from France to the United States and from Germany to the United Arab Emirates. His practice incorporates carefully blended shades of colour, on custom shaped canvases which explore three-dimensional space. Continuing to push boundaries of form with sculpture, mobile installations and his unique paintings, his works often seems almost alive and organic; sometimes with the hint of cells merging or dividing – the moments of creation, whilst in others of perfect symmetry, we feel the careful tension and balance of the universe around us.
